To make the game playable for the public, Team IGAS coded a series of custom fixes. Because many room transitions were fundamentally broken, they utilized a specific debug-style shortcut patch. Whenever a player encountered a door that lacked final game code or structural assets behind it, the game engine executed a basic, universal room-warp script. When you walk through that door and see

Every time you step through the Magic Door, the corridor repopulates with a fresh set of zombies. Sometimes it's two zombies. Sometimes it's four. Sometimes, if the build’s RNG is feeling cruel, it spawns a Licker or a moth.

In the final build of Resident Evil 2 , the developers placed strict boundaries on enemy movement during room transitions. They ensured that enemies could not follow you through a loading zone (a design choice that persisted until Resident Evil 3 introduced zone transitions).
